Born 1992

Yesterday, today and tomorrow I will still be my age. At my age, life moves just as fast as your mind can take you; everything seems rushed and yet I never want to slow down. At my age, I spend so much time waiting for something to happen that I forget the present. At my age, the grass is always greener on the other side but never stop to appreciate the grass I am already walking on. At my age, my dreams define me and they seem closer after each passing day. At my age, you are unsure of what you are doing and that is what makes life exciting, the unpredictability. At my age these make the best memories.

“But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”

-William Butler Yaets

What does it mean to be poor? If you have an answer already, have you experienced it? If so, to what degree?

Poverty strips so many opportunities from individuals across the world. All that is left is their dreams and mine. It is not that they are less intelligent or even too lazy, poverty is a misfortune that many have to live through against their will.

Having once lived in less fortunate circumstances, now every time I re-read this it reminds me that without my possessions all that would remain are my dreams. To me that is the most important possession that I have and I cannot stress how important it is to focus on it.
